For the Preach! issue of RE:COM,
which tackles the idea of having a message behind the jokes, we interviewed
comedy greats James Adomian, Tom Scharpling and Eddie Pepitone, went on tour with Daily
Show creator Lizz Winstead, and
heard from rising stars W. Kamau Bell, Lee Camp, and Aparna Nancherla. The issue also includes
insights on sharing a message from up-and-coming comedians across the country.
We are forever indebted to the
following folks, for without them, RE:COM would not be what it is. Namely, it
would be several blank pieces of paper sadly misstapled together, and
altogether, quite boring and useless. We are humbled and honored to work with
such amazing writers, photographers, and illustrators:
Tia Ayers (Something), Megan Curran (photography, Occupy
LA), Andrew DeWitt (illustration, Bloody
Crazy), Keith Ecker (essay, Riding
the Thin, Funny Line), Matthew Filipowicz (Activists’
Toobox), Jake Flores (essay, Beating
an Undead Horse), Corey Hayes (photography, Be Funny First), Kris Homan (design, The Buddha Roars), Helen Hong (essay, Be Funny
First), Mandee Johnson (photography, The Buddha Roars), Jim
King (Phoning It In), Asterios
Kokkinos (essay, Quit Regulating Our Baby Poison), Jake Kroeger (essay, Freedom
from Overthinking), Russell
Michniak (photography, What a Crazy Find), Erin Nekervis (photography, Off
‘The Hook’), Jenna Pope (photography, Activists’
Toolbox), Posterboy (illustration, Beating an Undead Horse), Mindy Tucker (photography, Steadfast
Politics), and VG Photography (photography, Something).
